Bloomberg announced at a press conference the arrests Saturday 27-year-old Jose Pimentel Manhattan, a citizen of the UNITED STATES comes from the Dominican Republic.
Mayor says Pimentel “planned to bomb police patrol cars as well as postal facilities as well as targeted members of the US armed who returned from abroad.” But authorities had no evidence that Pimentel worked with others, the mayor said.
Pimentel was motivated by American soldiers in his resentement Iraq and Afghanistan, driven by al-Qaeda propaganda, the mayor said. “He is not part of the conspiracy of which comes from abroad.” However, Bloomberg said Pimentel represents the kind of threat the FBI Director Robert Mueller has been warned about eroded the ability of the u.s. forces to carry out terrorist attacks on a large scale.
