Volunteers at the rocket City Marathon in Huntsville was in critical condition after being hit by a car.
Co-Director of race of Suzanne Taylor told The Huntsville Times (http://bit.ly/vvYn9S) 51-year-old man was in critical condition Saturday at Huntsville Hospital. His name was not immediately released.
Taylor said the men stepped off the pavement cross the street when he was hit by a vehicle just before 9 am. He worked at the station, handing out water to help runners.
Police said the driver of the vehicle was not hurt and there are no pending charges. The accident is under investigation.
Taylor said there was no runners 1,500 had reached the station at 13.2 assistance sign when the accident happened.
